Mike said the goal isn't to find a new vocalist, but he's not ruling out the idea
Linkin Park is in the difficult position of deciding whether and how it will continue without one of rock's greatest voices. In a recent interview, Mike Shinoda said he was open, after Chester Bennington , to finding a new vocalist.
“We all thrive on making and performing music,” Shinoda said. “I know the guys, they love being on stage, they love being in the studio. So, not doing that wouldn’t be healthy.”
When asked about the band's future without Chester, Shinoda stated: “It’s not my goal to look for another vocalist. If it happens, it has to be natural. If we find someone who is a great person and fits stylistically with the band, we can try. I never want to feel like we’re replacing Chester.”
Mike has been revisiting some Linkin Park songs on his solo tour. According to him, the idea is for fans to celebrate their former bandmate. That said, it's not strange for Mike to sing parts more familiar to Chester. He explains, "In the demo stages of our songs, I always sing everything. So the original vocals are mine and Chester re-recorded them. So, being on stage today and singing these songs just harks back to the early versions."
