Linkin Park provided an unusual moment during their show in São Paulo, at MorumBIS, last Saturday, the 8th. In the midst of a performance marked by nostalgia and celebration , the American band took advantage of the stage to hold a gender reveal party.
Before playing the song “Numb,” the band fulfilled a fan's request in the audience. Patricia Mossero held up a sign that read, “Would you make my dream come true and reveal the sex of our baby?” Lead singer Mike Shinoda took the sign and invited the audience to participate in the surprise, saying, “What a crazy sign. This is the first time we’ve seen one of these.”
Lead singer Emily Armstrong opened an envelope containing a note with the answer: "It's a girl! Congratulations!" The stadium then lit up in pink amidst cheers and applause from the audience.
After the show, the Instagram profile Eu Tô na Grade spoke with a fan who said she had been a Linkin Park fan since she was 10 years old: “They’ve been with me my whole life. I said, ‘I’m going to try [to do a gender reveal party]’ and it was incredible, Emily looked at me and said ‘congratulations.’ I’m ecstatic. I still can’t put it into words, I’m so happy. And I thought it was a boy. I talked to everyone, I talked to the photographer, I talked to the producer, I talked to the drummer and we did it.”
Linkin Park continues their From Zero World Tour in Brazil. After performing the first of three nights last Wednesday, the 5th, in Curitiba, at the Couto Pereira Stadium, and playing in São Paulo on Saturday the 8th, the band will perform in Brasília this Tuesday, the 11th.
