Linkin Park is being sued by the band's former bassist, Kyle Christner .
The reason for the lawsuit was alleged non-payment and lack of credit for his participation in Hybrid Theory , from 1999.
According to Blabbermouth , the musician identified himself as a "former member of Linkin Park" who "collaborated and recorded numerous songs with the band." He recalled the twentieth-anniversary Hybrid Theory , which contains "many tracks" that he "co-created." Among them, "Could Have Been," which "had never been released in any form and now has almost a million views on YouTube alone."
Christner claims that he “never received a penny for his work with Linkin Park, nor was he properly credited, even though [his former bandmates] benefited from his creative efforts.”
He claims in the lawsuit that his name was "removed" from the album's credits after it was re-released as "a fan club edition.".
Re-release of Hybrid Theory
In 2020, Linkin Park released Hybrid Theory: 20th Anniversary Edition . In addition to the songs already released on the album, the re-release also included rare B-sides and unreleased tracks, totaling eighty songs.
The band also released a commemorative edition this year celebrating two decades of Meteora , featuring new tracks, live versions, and B-sides.
