Band Honored for Influencing American Culture
Along with actor Dustin Hoffman, ballerina Natalia Makarova, and musician Buddy Guy, the members of Led Zeppelin were honored at a ceremony at the White House on December 2nd.
The honor is given to artists who have influenced American culture through the arts. The president gave a speech, stating that the honored artists have inspired people to listen differently and appreciate the beauty of the world.
When presenting the award to the band, President Obama jokingly thanked the Led Zeppelin musicians for their behavior during the ceremony, considering the band's history of trashing hotel rooms.
