A new documentary about one of rock's most notable bands is coming to theaters. Sony Classics Pictures announced the upcoming release of a documentary about Led Zeppelin . Becoming Led Zeppelin was previously announced in 2019 and only completed in 2021, but never reached a wide audience.
The only screening of the film to date was from a rough cut that premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2021. According to Sony , the work is now complete. The final version features a completely new sound mix, with newly discovered material from the archives of all four band members. In addition, it includes exclusive interviews with Jimmy Page , Robert Plant , and John Paul Jones , and previously unreleased accounts from John Bonham , who passed away in 1980.
“We spent years designing this film to be seen on the big screen with the best possible sound,” said director Bernard MacMahon . Producer and co-writer Allison McGourty added: “ Sony Pictures Classics is the perfect partner because they believe in the cinematic experience and are passionate about giving millions of Led Zeppelin fans the opportunity to see and hear the band on the world’s biggest screens and sound systems.”
