In addition to "worshipping the devil," the band was accused of "insulting Christianity."
Lebanese authorities have banned Sepultura from performing in the country. The Brazilian band was accused of "insulting Christianity" and "worshipping the devil."
The production company Skull Session announced that the band's visas were not granted. The show scheduled for Beirut on April 28th had to be cancelled.
“Basically, they were considered devil worshippers and disrespectful to Christianity. They also said the band played in Israel,” said Skull Session. “All of these accusations are false, obviously.”
Although Sepultura did not perform in Israel, the music video for "Territory" was filmed in both Israel and Palestine.
Travelers with Israeli stamps in their passports are not allowed to enter Lebanon. People who have already been to the country may be arrested by Lebanese authorities.
