The German-Norwegian band Leaves' Eyes releases their new album, The Last Viking , tomorrow, the 23rd. Based on the Viking lifestyle, it incorporates in-depth historical research into their symphonic metal sound.
To compose the songs, the group devoured books and researched historical Viking sagas, unraveling mythologies and bringing many emotions, drama, and struggles to the lyrics. It is one of the band's most explosive works, boasting a diverse and unpredictable range of compositional styles.
The album uses medieval elements in its sound, such as the use of the nyckelharpa, violin, and Celtic horns, creating a very diverse and intriguing sound. They forge a strong identity through in-depth historical research.
