Layne Staley , the late vocalist of Alice in Chains , will have his lost diaries, containing unpublished material, compiled into a book called This Angry Pen: The Lost Journals of Layne Staley . The book will be released on November 11, 2025.

This Angry Pen: The Lost Journals of Layne Staley will encompass never-before-seen poetry. It will include raw handwritten lyrics, intimate scribbles, and heartfelt notes from Staley. The release will also feature rare photographs and tributes from fans.

The book contains 176 pages and will be published by Weldon Owen Publishing and distributed by Simon & Schuster . The Simon & Schuster website provides the official description of the book ( via Consequence ):

The legacy of Layne Staley

Layne Staley died on April 5, 2002, from a mixture of heroin and cocaine, known as a speedball . The artist left behind a discography with Alice in Chains, which includes the records: Facelift (1990) , Dirt (1992) , Jar of Flies (1994) , Alice in Chains (1995) , and Unplugged (1996) .

According to a Facebook post by the profile Nehi Stripes Seattle , Nancy McCallum , Staley's mother, authorized of This Angry Pen: The Lost Journals of Layne Staley , and the profile also shared a supposed cover image of the book.

The book is already available for pre-order on the official website of the distributor Simon & Schuster for $40, equivalent to 228 reais at the current exchange rate.
