The track is part of the side project Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers
Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers celebrate the imminent end of the world in the new video for “Apocalypse Now (& later)”. Shot in a security camera style, the video contrasts destruction with people kissing and eating ice cream. As the lyrics say, “the joy of your kiss and the apocalypse”.
The track appears on the album Bought to Rot , from the singer's side project with Devouring Mothers. The band features Laura Jane Grace and drummer Atom Willard , from Against Me!, along with bassist Marc Jacob Hudson .
Rolling Stone magazine , Grace talked about how the project allowed her to put aside the "political" songs of Against Me!. "I felt a pressure where I didn't know, or still don't know, what Against Me! should be," she said. "I'm just writing because I love writing songs, I wasn't trying to think about those issues. I needed time, it was suffocating."
