Last Thursday, the 8th, a new song by rapper DMX called "X Moves" was released, featuring three heavyweight collaborations: Deep Purple Ian Paice , Yes and Asia guitarist Steve Howe , and bassist Bootsy Collins , who also delivers a rhyme on the single. All three personalities are inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
“X Moves” is a hybrid rock and hip-hop track that grandly lives up to the names it carries. The song was released at a delicate time, when DMX was hospitalized in serious condition after suffering cardiac arrest due to an overdose. This Friday, the 9th, the rapper passed away, making the single his last official release during his lifetime.
DMX is one of the biggest names in rap, especially due to his success in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The official statement regarding his death states that the artist, whose birth name is Earl Simmons , “was a warrior who fought to the end.” Earl had been battling substance abuse for many years and had been in rehab since April 2nd. “He loved his family with all his heart and we cherish the time we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans around the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever,” the statement reads.
