Check out Lars' message to Cliff Burton

Starting today, February 10th, in addition to marking the birthdate of Cliff Burton, bassist of the original Metallica lineup, is also a holiday in his hometown of Castro Valley, California, following the approval of "Cliff Burton Day".

The initiative, created by Metallica fans through a petition on Change.org, received support today from Metallica's drummer and founder, Lars Ulrich.

Through his Twitter account, the Metallica drummer wrote:
“Happy Birthday Cliff! Those were some crazy days. I miss you, man! #cliffburtonday”

The bassist's father, Ray Burton, commented on the tribute and confessed that he believes Cliff would be very happy: "I have no doubt that if Cliff were alive, he would have a huge smile on his face upon receiving this honor."
