Lars Ulrich , drummer for Metallica , commented on existing rumors that his band is planning a residency at the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas. Rumors suggest that the quartet may perform at the venue after the end of the M72 Tour in July of next year.

During an interview on the Howard Stern Show , Ulrich said that a residency is something the group is considering, but nothing is set in stone yet. The Dane neither confirmed nor denied the rumors, arguing that "everyone is a fan of the place."

“Our managers and producers were there and took a look. It’s something we’re considering, but nothing is set in stone. It might happen sometime when the 2026 tour is over. I won’t deny that I’d love to do it, and there’s no doubt about it. If you’re asking my opinion: I would love to,” he commented [transcription via Rolling Stone ].

Lars also said that he saw U2 at the venue and wanted to visit the arena where Metallica might play in Las Vegas. The musician stated that he was impressed with what he saw and realized it was a new way of doing live performances.

“I went to see U2 on the first night of their residency. When they went on stage, I wanted to see them in person before looking it up on YouTube or reading about it. Besides, like everyone else there, I was completely blown away. I felt that this was the beginning of a new chapter in live performances,” he concluded.
