He also reveals that the band is healthier
In an interview with Music Week, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explained why the band doesn't release an album every year.
“In the world of Hard Rock, people have a desire to see bands releasing the same album every one or two years with the same creative approach and being predictable
Lars explains that this isn't the kind of band Metallica is. He says that everyone struggled a lot over the years to have an original sound and to be able to do what they believe is right.
“In the first 25 years [of Metallica], we put the band first and the members and their needs second. Now, it’s the opposite. When that happens, I believe everything becomes healthier. We spend most of our time, energy, and resources on the well-being of the band.”
The drummer reveals that this change was a result of each member's vision for the band: longevity. They believe this is the best way to continue creating music that their fans love.
