Lamb of God returns after a five-year hiatus with the brand new track “Checkmate,” the first single from the band’s upcoming self-titled studio album.
“'Checkmate' brings together all the components of the Lamb of God sound that we've been developing over the last two decades, but with the ambition and ferocity that come with this new chapter in the band,” said guitarist Mark Morton in a statement released to the press. “Reenergized, this is Lamb of God 2020. We've never been more excited.”
Lamb of God will be released on May 8th and is already available for pre-order . The album marks the group's first release since VII: Sturm und Drang , from 2015, and marks the debut of drummer Art Cruz , who joined Lamb of God last year to replace founder Chris Adler .
The album was produced by Josh Wilbur and features guest appearances by Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed and Chuck Billy of Testament. See the album cover and tracklist below.
