Fede Alvarez , director of Don't Breathe and Evil Dead, is directing the new Labyrinth.
The sequel to the classic Labyrinth will be a direct continuation of the original film. Even with the death of David Bowie , the film's star, director Fede Alvarez confirmed this information.
“I had lunch yesterday with producer Lisa Henson and we reconnected on the project,” said Alvarez. “It’s basically a direct sequel to the first film many years later. We have a script, we’ll see where it takes us.”
Even though it's a sequel, the film may not feature characters like Jareth, the Goblin King (David Bowie), or the protagonist Sarah ( Jennifer Connelly ). According to IMDb, Alvarez wrote the script with newcomer Larry Brenner , Jay Basu ( The Girl in the Spider's Web ), and Nicole Perlman ( Guardians of the Galaxy ).
Despite stating he was “very excited about the film,” Alvarez admitted that it takes a long time to make a film like this. “Right now I’m finishing another film and I don’t know what my next one will be yet. But I had lunch with the producer and it was great.”
