Kurt Cobain 's guitar, used in the production of the album Nevermind (1991), was auctioned for $595,000 (approximately 3 million reais). The instrument, which was broken by the musician and can no longer be used musically, is a Fender Stratocaster model.
The Julien's Auctions took place at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City last Saturday, the 20th. The auctioneers themselves were surprised by the amount, as they had expected a tenth of that sum.
The guitar, which features a heartfelt message to Mark Lanegan , also bears the signatures of Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic . The late Nirvana signed his model as "Kurdt Kobain".
Recently, Kurt's guitar, used on the band's first tour in 1989, was auctioned for $500,000 .
