Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl Nirvana

In a lost interview, Kurt Cobain praises Dave Grohl and criticizes other Nirvana drummers.

The conversation was lost until recently

An interview with Kurt Cobain was recently found in an old archive in Belgium. The conversation took place with a local radio station called Studio Brussel in November 1991, just a few months after the release of the classic Nevermind.

In it, Kurt Cobain begins by talking about music in general and what life on the road is like before mentioning the band's newest member at the time: Dave Grohl. The drummer had been in the band for less than a year when the interview took place, but Cobain seemed very happy with the new addition.

“Krist [Novoselic] and I have been playing together for four and a half years with different drummers (…) Dave has been with us for about a year. This is the first time we’ve felt like a unit. The band is finally complete, because all the other drummers we’ve had were bad [laughs].”

Dave Grohl joined Nirvana in 1990, replacing drummer Chad Channing, who had participated in the recording of the band's debut album, Bleach . Recently , Chad revealed that he did not regret leaving Nirvana before they achieved success.

Dale Crover and Dave Foster have also played drums for the group, while Mark Pickerel and Dan Peters participated in some recording sessions.
