The guitar played by Kurt Cobain in the music video for "Smells Like Teen Spirit" will be auctioned off at the end of May.
The model – a 1969 Fender Mustang, made for left-handed players and in blue – will be available at Julien's Auctions during a three-day event called Music Icons. The ceremony takes place between May 20th and 22nd at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York, and also online.
The starting bid for the guitar – which was Cobain's favorite – will be between six hundred and eight hundred thousand dollars (approximately two million eight hundred thousand reais or three million seven hundred thousand reais).
In addition to the Fender guitar, a 1965 Dodge Dart that belonged to Kurt Cobain will also be auctioned (with a starting bid of four hundred thousand to six hundred thousand dollars), as well as other smaller items, including a drawing the musician made of Michael Jackson and a skateboard on which he drew the Iron Maiden , Eddie.
