Who would play Kurt Cobain in a movie? Despite the numerous documentaries made about the Nirvana , to this day no one has produced an official biopic about him, as has already been done with Queen ( Bohemian Rhapsody ) and Mötley Crüe ( The Dirt ).

Curious about what the project would entail, the website American Songwriter asked the Artificial Intelligence tool ChatGPT what the development of a film about Cobain would be like and who the cast would be.

The tool provided a comprehensive answer, presenting a biopic divided into 3 acts and an epilogue, called Smells Like Teen Spirit: The Kurt Cobain Story . The synopsis describes the film as "the journey of a young boy from a troubled childhood to becoming the frontman of the legendary grunge band, Nirvana."

The hypothetical biopic would have a first act portraying Kurt Cobain's adolescence "in a dysfunctional family and [battling] with a sense of alienation," finding comfort in music and meeting Krist Novoselic – thus forming Nirvana. The second act would discuss the success of the album Nevermind (1991) , Kurt's "problems" with fame, drug addiction and depression, and his relationship with Courtney Love , up to the birth of the couple's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain .

The third act would depict Kurt's personal conflicts amidst Nirvana's stratospheric success , eventually leading to his death in 1994. The epilogue would then showcase the legacy of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana, both in popular culture and the music world, also addressing issues of "mental health, addiction, and the challenges of fame."

Regarding the cast for the biopic, ChatGPT indicated that Dave Grohl would be played by Joe Kerry , known for his role as Steve in the series Stranger Things ; Krist Novoselic would be portrayed by Bill Skarsgard Pennywise the clown in the modern adaptation of It ; Courtney Love would be played by Saoirse Ronan ( Lady Bird, Little Women ), and Kurt Cobain would be played by Timothée Chalamet ( Dune, To the Bone ), due to his "versatility and ability to portray complex characters."

Would you watch a Kurt Cobain biopic with these characteristics?
