Krist Novoselic , former bassist and co-founder of Nirvana , has run for president of the United States.
The musician, who already has a history of political activism, is now president of the Cascade party, which, according to him, fits neither the Democratic nor the Republican ideology.
In an interview with KOMO-TV , Krist said that Cascade “isn’t just a conventional party. We’re trying to do something different, we’re trying to be seminal, we’re trying to break new ground.” (via Radio Rock )

Currently, the presidential race for the 2024 election in the United States is already underway, and one of the criteria for a party to be valid in the country is to have a presidential candidate; that is the only reason Novoselic is running for office.
However, Cascade will be left out for now. Krist Novoselic stated that “at this moment, the rules say we need to have a presidential ticket, but we are determined not to be on the 2024 ballot and, if that goes ahead, we have everything lined up because there is no statutory authority for that rule.” (via Rádio Rock )
New musical project: Bona Fide
Political life encompasses diverse situations, one of which is conventions. The bassist combined his skills and passions and started a new musical project, the band Bona Fide .
Novoselic assures that despite being a lure to attract supporters and voters, the shows don't contain much political discourse. "We're not going to go up there and bother people with a bunch of rhetoric. Basically, sign the petition if you want to see a new party in Washington State," he said. (via Rádio Rock )
Bona Fide made their stage debut in Seattle on June 20th at the Make Music Day festival in Aberdeen. In addition to political campaigning, distributing pamphlets, and collecting signatures – a thousand signatures are needed for a political party to be valid – the band played some Nirvana classics.
Among them is "Love Buzz," Nirvana's first single, which is a cover of the Dutch band Shocking Blue . Check it out below.
