Brian “Head” Welch said that these surprises “are things they don’t usually do.”

Brian Welch said that the three-year gap since the release of their last album was "very beneficial".

“The music industry never stops. But we’re in a place where we can stop and say, ‘let’s spend some time with our families.’ Some of the guys have young children. We have to balance everything. So we had a great vacation.”

He also spoke about the musical direction of the successor to The Serenity Of Suffering . The album will feature a collaboration with John Feldmann of Goldfinger . Travis Barker of Blink 182 recorded temporary drums on some songs.

“We’re really excited to let everyone hear what we’re doing,” Brian said. “And we have some surprises on the album that I can’t talk about. But they’re things we don’t normally do. Everyone’s going to love these ideas we have. That’s all I can say.”
