With a tour scheduled across North America, California's most influential nu metal band is working on new music, according to guitarist Brian Welch . In a recent interview with radio station WSOU 89.5 FM (via Metal Injection ), Welch, also known as "Head," said that Korn is currently recording and that the band is in great sync.
The guitarist had already commented last September about releasing new music , without giving many details about the project. He also spoke about doing something special to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his self-titled debut album released in 1994. In the new interview, Welch talks about the new work returning to a more basic approach.
“I think it’s the best and heaviest Korn material in years. And I think it will be raw and more basic, in terms of sound, recording and everything else. I don’t want to reveal everything, but we’re just very, very happy with where we are right now,” said Welch.
Requiem was the band's last album, released in February 2022. Being their fourteenth album and containing 9 tracks, the post-pandemic release received excellent reviews and marked a new, more mature and close-knit phase for the band.
“We’re not 23 years old, we’re approaching 50. We appreciate that we can still do this for a living and that the fans still show up [to see us]. It’s 100% for them. Korn is bigger than all of us. It’s not just a band, it’s a movement,” said drummer Ray Luzier in an interview with Wikimetal .
Korn in Brazil
In July of last year, journalist José Norberto Flesch , famous for announcing the arrival of music artists in Brazil, commented on Korn coming to the country for the 2nd edition of Knotfest Brazil , which did not happen, as the event was postponed to October 19 and 20, 2024.
According to a recent survey by Wikimetal , Korn is one of the most desired bands by the site's readers to be part of the Knotfest Brazil 2024 . However, with a confirmed tour of North America , the band's coming to Brazil on the festival dates becomes practically impossible. The last time they were in the country was in 2017, with The Serenity of Suffering .
