Korn is working on a follow-up to Requiem , the band's last album, released in 2022.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1 Rock Show , guitarist Brian “Head” Welch stated that the band is in no rush to release new material, [transcription via The PRP ]: “We’re taking our time with it.”

Brian Welch added that the recording is being done in analog format, with tapes: “Yes, we’re recording everything. Like, we’re all in the room, sweating, the tape is recording. The guy gives a thumbs-up at the window and we start playing, all focused. And if we don’t get it right, we rewind the tape and do it again. It requires more commitment. It’s like how we used to make records. So, there’s an energy to it that I think we like.”

Regarding the question of whether or not bassist Fieldy will be on the new album , the guitarist didn't give any details. In an interview with The Dr. Greenthumb Show , the bassist responded to whether Korn fans could expect him to return to live performances: “I won't be doing any shows, but we'll see what tomorrow holds. You never know, but for now, no.”

Korn surprises at Festival

As the headliner of the Download Festival  last Sunday, the 15th, Korn's performance was considered by Louder to be an "absolute triumph," elevating the band to the level of other Download headliners such as Metallica , Black Sabbath , and Guns N' Roses .

According to Louder , Korn's performance stands on its own "without fireworks, without an elaborate show, just a kaleidoscope of lights and some of the best nu metal music."

According to the website, the collective chorus from the audience during "Freak On A Leash" and the explosion of streamers that ended the band's performance "signals Korn's elevation to the same level as Metallica, Black Sabbath, Guns N' Roses, and all the other bands that have headlined this stage over the years. It was a triumph."
