Korn members said that Sleep Token "shut up" the haters with their show last Saturday, the 14th, at the Download Festival.

Korn headlined the biggest rock and metal festival in England last Sunday, the 15th, while Sleep Token was the main attraction on Saturday.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1 Rock Show , guitarists Brian “Head” Welch and James “Munky” Shaffer said that the masked band – and current sensation – surpassed any doubts with an impressive performance and stage presence.

Brian Welch said [transcription via The PRP ]: “I love it because all these people — I don’t know how many — but I heard comments like, ‘Sleep Token as a headliner?’ Some people said they were too young to be headlining so quickly. And they came with that stage? It shut everyone up. They were bigger than a Slipknot stage, man.”

Similarly, James Shaffer expressed his admiration for Sleep Token's new album, Even In Arcadia , released last month by RCA: “Also, the new record is incredible. So, it's not just like the stage, yes, you can do that all day, but they have the songs to match.”

Korn also surprises at the Festival

As the headliner of the Download Festival  last Sunday, the 15th, Korn's performance was considered by Louder to be an "absolute triumph," elevating the band to the level of other Download headliners such as Metallica , Black Sabbath , and Guns N' Roses .

According to Louder , Korn's performance stands on its own "without fireworks, without an elaborate show, just a kaleidoscope of lights and some of the best nu metal music."

According to the website, the collective chorus from the audience during "Freak On A Leash" and the explosion of streamers that ended the band's performance "signals Korn's elevation to the same level as Metallica, Black Sabbath, Guns N' Roses, and all the other bands that have headlined this stage over the years. It was a triumph."
