The Nothing relates to the dark moments that followed the death of Davis's wife.

Vocalist Jonathan Davis explained the title of Korn , The Nothing .

With a release date set for September 13th, the idea behind "The Nothing" is a reaction following the death of Jonathan Davis' wife last year

“I was fighting this thing that was haunting me – always playing tricks on me,” he said in an interview. “I tried to give it a name and it fit. I know it’s from The NeverEnding Story – Nothing came to destroy the land of fairy tales alongside Atreyu. I love that movie.”

He continued, “Nothingness isn’t necessarily evil – it’s a mixture, and I’m always about balance. In my house I have crosses of Jesus everywhere and I have Baphomets everywhere. I’m in the middle; I’m Switzerland.”.

Davis felt that when his wife Deven died, something was preventing him from recording the album. “It sounds crazy when I say it, but one thing after another kept happening – my microphones were breaking, things were breaking in the studio, things were happening at home. Whatever it was, it was preventing me from doing what I needed to do.”
