A few weeks after Jonathan Davis tested positive for COVID-19 , guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer also contracted the disease. Despite the second positive test among the band members, Korn decided to proceed with the current tour dates as scheduled.
The news of Munky's positive test was shared by the band on social media last week. "He's doing well, but he won't be playing at some of the upcoming shows. The tour is proceeding as planned despite the circumstances, and we wish him a speedy recovery," the group said in a statement.
In the comments section of the official post, a considerable number of fans requested the postponement or cancellation of the band's upcoming performances in the United States. “I love you all, but just cancel this tour! This isn't healthy for you, the crew, and the fans. Two-fifths of the band have already tested positive, Jon still isn't 100%, and now Munk is sick too,” commented one follower. “Cancel the rest of the tour, safety is more important,” wrote another.
The vocalist's diagnosis led to the postponement of some tour dates at the end of August, but the band returned to the stage two weeks later with Jonathan Davis still "physically weak and battling mentally," Brian "Head" Welch explained in a video asking for positive energy for his colleague.
In his first shows back, Davis appeared visibly unwell, showing signs of weakness, shortness of breath, and coughing, and performed part of the shows sitting down.
