Last Saturday, the 30th, Slipknot was scheduled to close Knotfest Mexico 2019 , the latest edition of the famous festival organized by the band. However, the group had to cancel their set after a barricade was broken and the event staff failed to repair it in time.

Evanescence , who were scheduled to perform before Corey Taylor , and fans present at the venue reacted in an extreme way, invading the stage and destroying equipment, some belonging to Evanescence. Slipknot then released a statement on their Twitter:

“Due to a broken barricade and failed attempts to repair it, Slipknot was forced to cancel the performance. Safety, and especially the safety of our fans and bandmates, is our number one priority. We deeply apologize and hope everyone understands. If something like this happened to you, we wouldn't forgive ourselves. Furthermore, if we could have repaired the barricade properly, we would have gone on stage. Once again, we hope you understand and we will try to make up for what happened as soon as possible.”

The band, led by Amy Lee, also used social media to comment on the situation, recording a video with all the members: “We are heartbroken that we can’t perform, Mexico (…) Your safety, your life, is more important than any show. We love you and we will be back soon, that’s a promise.”
