Klaus Meine , lead singer of Scorpions , explained how the title of the band's new album, Rock Believer , is a response to those who believe in the death of rock and also a welcoming message to fans.

The album title can be translated as "one who believes in rock," a great definition for bands and fans of the genre. In an interview with My Planet Rocks, transcribed by Blabbermouth , Meine spoke about the desire to connect with the fanbase during this pandemic period.

“It’s all about a dialogue with the fans. Especially [since] we’ve been blocked from the world of touring for so long, it’s like you want to keep in touch with your fanbase. And through social media today – with Facebook, Instagram and even TikTok [laughs], whatever comes along – you have the chance to connect with your fanbase and it’s a really cool dialogue,” the singer said.

The lyrics of Rock Believer follow the same line of reasoning as the release of "Sign of Hope," a ballad released at the very beginning of the pandemic. The song wasn't a single and wasn't commercially oriented; it was simply a way for the band to share a message of hope with the public, and it resulted in three videos filled with photos of fans from all over the world.

“The same goes for the lyrics in Rock Believer . We are the essence of those who believe in rock, yes, but we also hear that 'rock is dead' so many times. There's grunge, hip-hop, and rap. Yes, these genres are very popular today – especially hip-hop and rap – but every time we go on tour, [we realize] that rock isn't dead, it's alive and well,” Klaus Meine continued.

The band releases the new single “Seventh Sun” this Friday, the 11th, while the album Rock Believer will be released on February 25th. Check out the cover and tracklist here .
