Scorpions achieved global success with ballads like "Wind of Change," "Always Somewhere," and "Send Me An Angel," songs so popular that they quickly gained versions in various languages. In Brazil, forró bands made their own interpretations of these classics, something Klaus Meine was unaware of.
In a recent interview with Scorpions Brazil , the lead singer of the German band heard covers of songs by forró groups such as Calcinha Preta, Desejo de Menina, Robério e seus Teclados , among others that are very popular in the Northeast of the country.
“I had never heard these songs, these versions. But it’s interesting,” he reacted with good humor. “Wow, 'Always Somewhere' in a faster version. And 'Wind of Change' too, it turned out really… interesting. Fantastic, I’m very surprised, it’s very cool.”
“There are so many versions and so many cover bands around the world, and some of them are very good, I have to say,” he continued. “I mean, it’s a way of honoring the artists and composers of the songs. I think it’s great and I really enjoy it when I hear different versions of our songs. Some are very good and I like that.”
