KK Downing , former guitarist of Judas Priest , commented on the sex scandal involving David Ellefson , who was fired from Megadeth after the leak of explicit videos sent to a young woman, and showed support for his friend.

In an interview with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM , the guitarist was asked if there was interest in recruiting Ellefson for the band KK's Priest , formed with vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens and drummer Les Binks , also former members of Judas Priest . Currently, the bass position is occupied by Tony Newton . “No. We’re set now,” he replied (via Blabbermouth ). “And obviously, there are all the videos we’re going to release. We’re totally set.”

Despite not having room for the former Megadeth in the band, Downing maintains a friendship with Ellefson and sent messages of support to his colleague after the scandal ( understand the case here ). “I texted David saying, obviously, ‘You have many friends all over the world.’ And he does,” he continued. “People not only like him, they love him. He’s a gentleman.”

In the guitarist's view, the case is not an exception, the only difference being that many don't come to the public's attention. "If this had happened in the 1970s or 1980s, it would have been considered just rock and roll," Downing observed. "He's no different from anyone else. We all have strengths and we all have weaknesses, especially as men, unfortunately."

Finally, KK Downing left an optimistic message about Ellefson . "So, I wish him all the best and I know he'll be back, because he's so good. And he's an incredible bassist, there's no doubt about that," he praised.
