Glenn Tipton will not be able to tour with Judas Priest, and will be replaced by Andy Sneap

Former Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing says he was "shocked and stunned" that he wasn't invited to rejoin the band after Glenn Tipton's decision not to do the upcoming tour.

Tipton, now 70 years old, decided to only record the new album, Firepower , and not go on tour due to the progression of Parkinson's disease, which he was diagnosed with 10 years ago. His replacement will be the band's co-producer and Hell guitarist, Andy Sneap. Learn more about Andy's work by clicking here.

In a statement on his fan page, Downing said, “The news that Glenn has been forced to accept his unfortunate condition has come with deep regret and sadness to me. This end to our guitar duo era is something I have to accept. The insatiable appetite that Glenn and I had to create inspired and unique music for the world to enjoy for many decades is something that can never be erased. However, all who have witnessed the evolution of our music must agree that things will inevitably change, or end.
I must also say, with great sadness, that I am shocked and stunned that I have not been invited to return to my original role as guitarist for Judas Priest. (…) I know now, more than ever, that I did the right thing in leaving the band, as it seems that my time and value in terms of creating its enormous legacy is not appreciated by more than one member. I sincerely hope that the decision not to approach me was not financial.
I know Andy Sneap and he is one of the greatest contributors to Rock and Metal that you will ever have the privilege of knowing
"I'm glad to know you. To that end, I have no doubt that your contribution to the new Judas Priest album went far beyond just being a producer. All that remains now is for you to enjoy the band as it is, to complete a part of music history in which each of you played such an important role."

KK Downing left Judas Priest in 2011, being replaced by Richie Faulkner.
