The Canadian band Kittie released their newest single, “We Are Shadows”, last Thursday, the 4th.
The track features striking guitar riffs and well-crafted instrumentation that, together with the vocals, create a good, melodic, and powerful contrast.
They were on hiatus for the past thirteen years and, prior to "We Are Shadows," released the single "Eyes Wide Open." Both songs will be on the album Fire , scheduled for release later this year by Sumerian Records .
Morgan Lander , vocalist of Kittie, said ( via Blabbermouth ): “'We Are Shadows' is about the uncertainty of a future we can no longer control. We've reached a critical point in life and in our world, and like an eclipse that passes the sun, we are losing the light.”
“The image of shadows slowly disappearing into the darkness of night and the analogy of 'us' as shadows in the night truly illustrate the possibility of slowly fading into oblivion. However, it is not a song of hope, it is a song of acceptance of the damage we have caused and acceptance of our fate. We let the darkness take over and, therefore, we are determined to disappear into the night with it.”
