KISS 's farewell to the stage took place last Saturday, the 2nd, with a show at Madison Square Garden in New York. The performance concluded the long farewell tour, End of The Road Tour , but it was also the global announcement of a new era for the band, which will continue as digital avatars.
The news was revealed only at the end of Kiss's historic final show. According to Blabbermouth , frontman Paul Stanley announced that, despite the musicians' retirement, the band is beginning a new phase with technological performances featuring avatars. "We're not going anywhere. You'll see us in many different ways all the time. We'll see you in your dreams," he said.
With the band already offstage, the first appearance of the Kiss avatars came on screen to introduce “God Gave Rock n' Roll To You.” In virtual reality, the members gained powers related to their respective characters. “The power and love [of the fans] has made us immortal. The new era of Kiss begins now,” announced Stanley's avatar.
In a trailer showcasing the new show, Gene Simmons said that the new Kiss show with avatars will be "the best you've ever seen." According to Blabbermouth , the avatars were created by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and produced by the Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment, responsible for ABBA 's ABBA Voyage in London, which features performances by the group in the form of projections on stage.
