Former Kiss member published a text criticizing the band's vocalist.
The relationship between Ace Frehley and Gene Simmons is becoming complicated. Simmons has given several interviews talking about his reluctance to reunite the band's classic lineup, but this time Frehley responded to his former colleague's comments.
In his last controversial interview, Simmons said that Frehley and Peter Criss had their chance and will never return to Kiss : “They came and went – they were fired – three times. For alcohol, drugs, bad behavior, lack of professionalism. The answer is that I would love to have Ace and Peter with us. If it doesn't happen, it's not our fault.”
In response, Frehley took to his social media and denied being fired from Kiss, saying he chose to leave the band because Simmons and Paul Stanley are "control freaks and difficult to work with."
"Your comments about my habits have cost me millions of dollars over the years. I've been sober for 12 years, and you keep saying I'm unreliable. Well, it's been exactly 12 years that I've been performing with my band."
Frehley also accused Simmons of sexually harassing his wife: “The icing on the cake was when you grabbed my wife in the Capitol Records building in Los Angeles, behind my back, when I was trying to help you with your 'Vault Experiences' shows, which I only found out about weeks later. She planned to report you, but I told her to drop it!”
The former Kiss member ended the text by threatening Simmons if he doesn't apologize for the situation: "Without a complete and heartfelt apology, an offer for me to return to my old job, and without removing Tommy Thayer [Ace Frehley's replacement in the band] from the throne I created, all hell will break loose and it won't stop."
Simmons and Frehley seemed to have resolved their differences in recent years and were participating in shows together, but now the situation has changed. See Ace Frehley's full statement below.
