Kirk Hammett: Metallica throws away my song ideas "all the time"

Kirk Hammett spoke in an interview about his guitar skills

James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich Metallica 's main songwriters . Although he's behind some great songs, Kirk Hammett don't always make it onto the album.

In an interview with Rolling Stone , Hammett said that his ideas are rejected "all the time." He also spoke of his frustration in knowing that what he does for Metallica doesn't necessarily represent everything he is as a musician.

“I always feel like I have so much more to say on an album, but that I can’t say it,” the guitarist said. “It’s crazy, because I’m so curious about music in general. I know how to play a lot of different things. I play jazz, bossa nova, blues, gypsy jazz, European ballads. I play all of that, but nobody knows I play it.”.

Hammett also admitted: "I always try to put a little bit of jazz, some techniques here and there into Metallica." He said that "all the time" his ideas are dismissed and the band says that something sounds too bluesy, for example.
