“We’ve been in the scene for three decades. We’re in our fourth decade. And we’ve been here so long that people have seen the name Metallica so many times that through sheer osmosis we’ve become part of American culture, of our social culture. We have fans who have known Metallica since they were born. Metallica has always been there, deep down. For these people, we are more than a band, we are part of the cultural landscape.”.
