Kirk Hammett: "I hope the new Metallica album will break down the division that exists in the world today."

"Metallica has always wanted to unite people through music," Kirk Hammett commented in an interview about the new album.

In a recent interview with Metal Hammer , Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett spoke about the new album and the division that exists in the world today.

During the pandemic, the band worked on composing 10 new songs for the new album, according to a recent statement by James Hetfield .

“Metallica has always wanted to unite people through music,” Hammett commented. “The feeling is that now, more than ever, people need music to bring everyone together and celebrate collectively that we’ve made it this far.”

"There is a lot of division in the world, and hopefully the Metallica album will be able to break through that division and unite people in a way that is beneficial to everyone," the guitarist added.

Regarding the quarantine period, Kirk Hammett stated: “We tried to make the most of this year and a half of Covid. We met remotely and it worked.”
