The Gibson CEO Build #4 SG guitar used by Kirk Hammett during the special Back to the Beginning in Birmingham fetched a surprising price at auction.

The instrument, initially valued at around US$6,000, was sold for an impressive US$76,800 (approximately R$410,000 at the current exchange rate) after being used in Metallica of the Black Sabbath .

After the show, Kirk Hammett signed the instrument and sent it to the traditional Played, Worn & Torn auction , organized by Julien's Auctions , which brought together more than 800 historical items from various eras and musical genres.

The auction also features other items from Kirk Hammett's personal collection. It includes over 150 guitars, trophies, and equipment marked by tours and recordings of one of metal's most influential guitarists.

Despite the high demand for his instruments, Hammett emphasizes that he doesn't want to see them stuck in stagnant collections. “I’ve always had a collector’s spirit. But it drives me crazy to see so many guitars unplayed. I hope that the people who buy them will use them, record with them, take them on the road,” he stated [via Metal Injection ].
