Kirk Hammett, Gene Simmons, and other musicians recommend horror movies.

See the choices

A number of metal musicians gave statements to Metal Hammer recommending horror movies for Halloween. Check out the musicians' choices:

Kirk Hammett (Metallica) – The Witch (2015): “I think the best horror movie to be released in a long time is The Witch. It’s original, the concept is great, I love that all the dialogue is taken from the 16th century.”

Biff Byford (Saxon) – Nosferatu (1922): “My favorite is Nosferatu. It’s funny because I’m writing a song about it and I’ve been watching it a lot, but the film has no words so it’s about photography. Why this film? Well, you wouldn’t want to wake up next to it, would you?”

Gene Simmons (Kiss) – Psycho (1960): “One of the greatest films remains Psycho, even though it has nothing supernatural in it. The original. Have you seen it? You don't see any knives going into bodies, you never see blood coming out of bodies, it's psychological horror, which is the scariest thing. The only monster is a human being, and that's the scariest of all.”

Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) – Deep Red (1975): “My all-time favorite horror film is Profondo Rosso, translated as [Deep Red] , by Dario Argento. It’s a timeless classic. You have blood and gore, but also something deep and psychological going on.”
