The duo paid tribute to David Gilmour and Kansas City.
Metallica passed through Kansas City, Missouri, during their WorldWired , bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett had a blast playing Pink Floyd .
A classic from 1979, the song received a new interpretation in celebration of David Gilmour , which happened that same week. The duo shared vocal duties while the rest of the band rested backstage, as they have been doing recently.
Kansas ' "Carry On Wayward Son" to celebrate the band's namesake city – another tradition for the duo. They had previously played Prince in Minneapolis , Black Sabbath in Birmingham , and Lynyrd Skynyrd in Alabama.
