King Diamond took to social media to reveal that he is working on the lyrics for his band's upcoming album, titled The Institute . The album is expected before the end of the year via Metal Blade Records.
“[I’m] in my lair working on the lyrics for the new album. The words may be blurry for now, but in due time the madness will unfold, you’ve been warned,” said the artist.
Last summer, King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRocque spoke with Canada's The Metal Voice
LaRocque revealed: “King already has the basic storylines in mind, and I have 4-5 songs that are possible for the next album. I know King has tons of riffs. As soon as he sits down to start, it will be quick.”
Regarding his vision for the new album, Andy added: “Melodies, of course, are super important; without melodies there is no music. I’m also envisioning a more organic sound on the album. If you look at the older albums, when Mikkey ( Dee ) played, the tempos oscillated, which makes it dynamic and also organic. So that’s something I’d like to hear on the next album, an organic feel. The drums are a very important thing, and I know Matt Thomson is the right guy to do that.”
