King Diamond had to cancel his performance at the Hell & Heaven Metal Fest in Mexico on March 15th.

The news was announced on the musician's social media, and the statement did not reveal details of the surgery, only reassuring fans that he is recovering well. "It was only recently that my doctor told me to have this surgery, and if it wasn't done correctly, I wouldn't be able to travel anymore," said Diamond, 63.

He goes on to say that, although the surgery was successful, the "recovery is slower than expected" and, therefore, he needs to rest. "Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to play at Hell & Heaven [Metal Fest] this weekend. We love playing in Mexico and I can't wait to make up for this show."

The show that will take place in São Paulo on May 3rd is confirmed, so far.
