King Diamond already begun writing the lyrics for the band's highly anticipated new album, but the successor to Give Me Your Soul…Please (2007) is not expected to be released until 2023.
The project was originally titled The Institute and was initially scheduled for release this year by Metal Blade Records, but the label's CEO, Brian Slagel, told The Metal Voice that the expected release date is now next year.
“King likes to do things at his own pace. And I’m like, ‘Hey, whatever works for you is totally fine with me.’ But I’ve been very happy with what I’ve heard so far, so I hope everyone else will be very happy,” he said (via Blabbermouth ).
In addition to the new King Diamond album, the musician has also begun the creative process for the next Mercyful Fate . According to Slagel, the band has a festival schedule in the second half of the year and shows across North America, but the album should be released "sometime soon".
