King Diamond is back with the release of “Spider Lilly,” his first single in five years. The track, accompanied by a music video, is part of his new musical project, the Terror Trilogy.
The live debut took place earlier this year during the band's recent North American tour, which also featured the previously unreleased track "Electro Therapy" on stage.
At five minutes long, “Spider Lilly” showcases the essence of thrash metal, marked by intense guitar riffs and an arrangement full of melodic twists. Diamond's classic falsetto remains prominent, this time complemented by the vocals of Danish singer-songwriter Myrkur , who also participated as a backing vocalist on the tour.

The single is the first sample of King Diamond's new trilogy, whose initial chapter, "Saint Lucifer's Hospital 1920," explores macabre themes. The music video for "Spider Lilly" reinforces this dark aesthetic, with scenes filmed at Pennhurst Asylum , a former psychiatric hospital on the outskirts of Philadelphia.
“What a dark, yet great experience,” King said in an official statement, revealing his enthusiasm for filming on location. He also mentioned that he hopes to have the opportunity to film more videos in that setting.
