Killswitch Engage has announced the release of their new single, "The Consequence," on November 20th. The song is expected to be part of the band's new album, scheduled for release in early 2025.

The band's social media accounts published the single's cover art, accompanied by the caption: "November 20, 2024. New music coming soon. Mark your calendars."

Band members talk about new album

In March 2024, Joel Stroetzel , the band's guitarist, revealed in an interview with the channel A Swedish Fika With ( via Blabbermouth ) that the band's new album is practically finished. He explained: “We just finalized all the last recording details in the last few weeks. The guitars are ready, all the vocals too. Now, Adam [Dutkiewicz , the band's guitarist and producer] is putting everything together, making the necessary adjustments. Then we'll decide whether he'll mix it or if we'll send it to an outside professional for a second opinion.”

He also mentioned that the band recorded “a lot of songs,” which will make the process of choosing the tracks for the final album a challenge. “That’s a good problem, but we’ll have to decide what goes on the album and what we can save for b-sides or special editions,” he added.

Vocalist Jesse Leach , in turn, shared on his social media in February that creating the new album was the most challenging experience of his career. "This album was a huge challenge for me. Now that it's almost complete, I can say I wouldn't change a thing! All the trials, difficulties, and anxieties were worth it for what's taking shape."

Jesse Leach's vocal journey

Leach also spoke about her vocal journey and the crucial help she received from renowned vocal coach Melissa Cross . “I’ve been learning new techniques, like the fry [raspy vocal technique], which I use from time to time, but most importantly, I’ve been able to rediscover my original false chord style in a completely new way. The blending and understanding of how the voice works has empowered me to do things I didn’t think I could do anymore,” she commented.

Previously, the vocalist had already admitted that the album's creation process had "taken a toll" on him. "It was the most difficult album I've ever worked on, for several reasons." But it was a growth experience. "It was a work in progress, and with each step I was able to separate my emotion from the work. I learned to deal with criticism and grow from it," he reflected.

The band's latest work is the album Atonement , from 2019.
