Killswitch Engage released the music video for "Aftermath" this Tuesday, the 17th. The song is from their new album, This Consequence , released on February 21st of this year by Metal Blade Records.
Produced and directed by Good Eye: Music Visuals , this video by Killswitch Engage features collaborations with some of the world's leading environmental groups to highlight the damage being done to the Earth and raise awareness.
In a statement, vocalist Jesse Leach commented: “'Aftermath' is a song about understanding a tragic event or war, the strength needed to rebuild, and the retrospective of the loss, betrayal, and madness that transpired during it all. I think we can all identify with that in one way or another. We see humanity's tragedies daily, as well as the destruction of a place we call home. We take so much from our planet and tip the balance in the wrong direction.”
“This song isn’t just a desperate song with a touch of sadness and anger—it’s a call to arms. I’m encouraging my fellow human beings to overcome helplessness and despair. I want people to see that we need to step up and start rebuilding our lives. Whether it’s from an abusive relationship, financial hardship, the death of a loved one, or grieving yet another disaster unleashed upon the natural world.”
And he concluded that we all have the power to create change: “For me, this works perfectly with the various organizations we partnered with for this video. We all have a responsibility to the incredible place we call home. We can all make a difference, big or small, simply by contributing to correcting the mistakes and repairing the damage we have inflicted on our planet. Our hope is to inspire others to help keep our home safe and clean for future generations. It starts here and now, with us.”
