The guitarist also spoke about his desire for a reunion in recent days
Andre Matos, founder of Brazilian bands Viper, Angra, and Shaman , passed away last Saturday, the 8th, and the internet is flooded with tributes.
Among them is Kiko Loureiro, who was Andre's bandmate for nine years in Angra, between 1992 and 2000. In a video published on his YouTube channel, the musician, now in Megadeth , recalled his history with his colleague:
"What a sad morning! A phone call and the news that Andre Matos has passed away. Life is too fragile. I cried. Since I was 14, back in my Rio Branco school days, André was already a role model. We wanted to be like him. His unparalleled voice, his talent for the piano. Fortunately, fate brought us together for nine years. The times we spent together, creating and experiencing incredible things, are kept in the most special place in my memory. The crazy dream of having a world-famous heavy metal band that we talked about while sitting on the bus going to rehearsals. The songs he made, eternal (play Carry On!), the albums, from the first precarious shows to the big tours in Europe. Everything comes to mind now. The unparalleled high note, the glance over his round glasses… André, you were and will be so important to all of us. In the week he said he would like to play together again, after 20 years. Too sad. His voice, his songs, his piano will be eternal for all of us fans. Thank you, André. Rest in peace." #andrematos
