Kiko Loureiro Megadeth 's guitarist since 2015. Over the past six years, the Brazilian has had the opportunity to tour and record in the studio with Dave Mustaine , a period during which he learned important lessons from the band's leader, both for his professional life and for personal matters.
The musician spoke about what he learned in a recent YouTube video, in which he answered fan questions. “I don’t know if you’re asking about guitar stuff, but I think my answer would be more… I learned by watching his effort to be unstoppable, strong, to seek excellence and demand excellence from everyone, and [to make] everyone deliver their best,” he began.
In addition to these leadership characteristics, Loureiro also cited his dedication to Megadeth and the music business. “Fighting for your music, for your band, fighting for your fans. [I learned to] be an artist and creative, combining all these things – being professional and creative at the same time, without ceasing to have fun doing things,” he continued.
Regarding guitar, Kiko Loureiro said he learned "the essence of thrash metal" simply by watching Mustaine in daily interaction. "Mainly the rhythm, then attitude, strength, vibration, pulse, intensity... All those things while you play. Mixing technical things with a lot of energy, with metal and punk and attitude," he said. "And also in composition, he writes in a very different way from me . (...) So I learned a lot, I could make a whole video just about things I learned from Dave and from the whole Megadeth experience."
