Kiko Loureiro, current guitarist for Megadeth, recorded a video congratulating Angra, his original band, for reaching number one on Spotify's Viral 50 chart in Brazil.
Check out the full video where Kiko laments the current state of Brazilian music but at the same time celebrates that there is hope, as demonstrated by Angra's achievement:
"Yesterday I received the great news that Angra reached number 1 on Spotify's Brazil Viral 50. We were ahead of MC Loma and the Lacração Twins and MC Neguinho with the song Popotão Grandão.".
Kiko talks about the current state of Brazilian music:
“Go up, go down, sit, squat, spit, swallow… 10, 20 words that are always the same in the songs we have in Brazil. It's even pitiful… ”
Referring to Anitta's "Vai Malandra" music video, Kiko continues: "Butt marketing works well... The 'marketing genius' makes a video that starts with a butt and, of course, it goes viral... Angra showed that you don't need to show a video with a tight bikini or a sticker covering your breasts to be successful .
Kiko acknowledged Angra's achievement:
“Without the butt marketing, without the up, down, spit, swallow, I want to congratulate Angra on 'Black Widows Web' which features Sandy and Alissa. People are trying to escape this funk and sertanejo that's pushed by the record label system. This type of music is a plague .
Recently, singer Sandy posted on her Facebook:
“It was a pleasure to participate in this Angra song, which has a very important meaning today. It wasn't just the music that attracted me, but the whole idea of the lyrics, the 'black widow' theme as an analogy for social media. I love challenges and I love having opportunities to do things that people might not expect from me artistically. I hope the public likes it; I was very happy with the result .
