Megadeth fans were already happy to know that the band is officially recording a new album , they'll be even happier now with the reveal of the cover art for guitarist Kiko Loureiro , Open Source .
Regarding the title, Loureiro said, “By definition, 'Open Source' relates to software whose original source code is freely available and can be redistributed and modified. This gives us a greater sense of community, enhances our creativity, and creates new possibilities. So why not embrace this concept in our art, our music? How much richer could a piece of music be if other people had access to its source code? What if the original composition of the music wasn't the final product? What if it was just the beginning? Something that could be constantly updated and evolve over time. And, beyond a machine, we, as humans, are also concerned with improvements, being ourselves an open source, constantly moving and growing, through technology, science, spirituality… and art.”
“My compositions and recordings aren’t the end goal of the album, but the beginning,” Kiko continues. “I want you to have access to how I created the album concept, the songs, and how I played them. Furthermore, I’ll make the tracks available for download. That way, you can remix, recreate, and create new versions. And I can’t wait to see what you’ll create from that. I can expect different approaches and versions better than mine.”
To achieve this, the guitarist will expand and extend his crowdfunding , which is currently accepting contributions and offering exclusive experiences during the production of the new album.
